There was a cleveland mobster who
went by the name of charles polizzi and was big with the mayfield
road mob and
an associate of the Moe Dalitz group out there. this polizzi's real
name was
leo berkowitz, a jew, and he attended the "big seven"
convention of major
bootleggers that was held in atlantic city in 1929. (see "meyer
lansky: mogul
of the mob" p. 145, and "the last testament of lucky luciano"
p. 104). in the
luciano book it says he was adopted into the family of al polizzi,
a big man
in the cleveland mafia.
